The Partnership to work under new "Local and Community Development Programme"
A new programme called the Local and Community Development Programme (LCDP) has been rolled out by the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs. The new programme merged the previous 2 programmes: the Local Development Social Inclusion Programme and the Community Development Programme. The new programme's official mission statement is:
The Local and Community Development Programme aims to tackle poverty and social exclusion through partnership and constructive engagement between Government and people in the most disadvantaged communities.
CPLN Area Partnership is currently rolling out the Annual Plan of Activities that will guide the work in the coming year. The work will be carried out as part of four main Goals, with specific actions to be undertaken under each goal. The Goals cover areas of work such as:
- Raising awareness and knowledge of services in the local community;
- Developing opportunities for learning and development in educational, recreational and cultural settings;
- Supporting and developing services and training opportunities to assist people in entering the labour market;
- Promoting dialogue between funders, service providers and local communities.
We will also be sending out another electronic newsletter in the Spring to give the local community information on upcoming events and training. If you haven't signed up to our email database to receive community news monthly into your mailbox, please send us an email to reception@cpln.ie.
